Captain Ralph and wife Lorelei fishing for King Salmon
Ralph diving for Sea Cucumbers in the fall
Your Guide and Captain, Ralph Cianflone
Iíve been commercial and charter fishing in Southeast Alaska for over 25 years. I first came to Ketchikan as a college student from Massachusetts looking to make some summer money as a deckhand on a commercial salmon seiner. Since then, Iíve worked on commercial long-lining boats in the Gulf of Alaska fishing for halibut and black cod and crabbed for tanner and king crab throughout Southeast Alaska. In the fall and winter time, I dive for sea cucumbers and crew on a seine boat for the herring sac roe fishery in Sitka, Alaska.
My family and I live in Ketchikan year-round. We enjoy Southeast Alaskaís vast landscape and mountainous islands and waterways. We also enjoy living in the community of Ketchikan, with its easy access to world class outdoor opportunities. Ketchikanís local waters provide plenty of salmon, halibut, rock fish, shrimp and crab to keep our freezers full. When not on the water, you can find us out hiking, gardening, and smoking and canning our harvest.
I have a 100-ton Captainís License issued by the Coast Guard and Iím certified in First Aid and CPR. I love guiding; one of my biggest thrills is to see people catch their first fish in Alaska, or better yet, their first fish ever. My charters are family friendly and offer something for everyone Ė great fishing along with scenery and wildlife viewing, bird watching, and plenty of opportunities to take photographs. I look forward to fishing with you!
